| | | | 07 August 2011 - 2011/2012 Season... | | | PredictionsLeague.com is currently getting a make over... ...but unfortunately that means that the 2011/2012 game will start a couple of weeks late!
As well as a new look, there will be a couple of slight changes to the game, you will able to predict all games, not just weekend, which I think is a change for the better, another change will be that the points and results should update each evening.

| | 26 May 2011 - A Predicatable End to an Unpredictable Season | | | As the final whistles blew across the country on a thrilling final day of the Premier League season, we were left to reflect on a predictable season that had been reached in anything but predictable manner.
As Manchester United had already re-claimed the Premier League Champions title with games to spare, Sundays focus was aimed at the teams threatened by relegation. It was an enthralling, see-saw of events that saw the bottom of the table change 14 times during the course of the afternoon, but, in the end it was the bookies favourites, Blackpool and Birmingham following their respective defeats at Manchester United and Tottenham, that were relegated and will join West Ham in the Championship next season.
Of the five clubs threatened by relegation at kick-off on Sunday, only Blackburn remained in a position of safety throughout the day thanks to three first half goals against Wolves at Molineux. Stephen Hunt's late strike meant Wolves limped out of the bottom three and both teams survived to enjoy the madness again next season. Cue Wolves players and fans alike celebrating as if they had won the league. On the final day of the season it is easy to overlook a poor performance and a bad result, losing 2-3 at home against a poor Blackburn side, when survival is the be all and end all.
Blackpool's performance at Old Trafford in their absorbing 4-2 defeat against Premier League Champions Manchester United was the story of their season in microcosm: adventurous, attacking, showing signs of early promise but an inability to defend and ultimately not quite good enough.
Blackpool and Ian Holloways attacking approach to their first Premier League campaign is rarely seen from newly-promoted teams and has been, for most, a pleasure to behold. But, as they say, the league table doesn't lie. They have played to their strengths, but their strengths did not lie in defense, and the overall lack of quality in Blackpool's squad has proved their undoing.
It was a lack of goals that has been Birmingham's downfall, the 37 goals that Blues registered, averaging less than one a game, was the league's lowest total. They have been in free fall since Alex McLeish's team secured the club's first major trophy in 48 years when they defeated Arsenal at Wembley in the League Cup Final. But since then little has gone right for either club, Birmingham managed only to win another two games before the end of the season.
Arsenal's deterioration continued as they struggled to a 2-2 draw at Fulham, Arsene Wenger's side slide to fourth place and will be forced to play in the Champions League qualifying round. In contrast to Manchester City, where a final day victory over Bolton saw them leapfrog The Gunners into third place, and automatic entry into the group stages of the Champions' League. This, following hot on the heels of their FA Cup Final triumph over Stoke City, will probably placate the wealthy backers, but you can't help feeling that more will be expected next season.
Manchester City might have received much critism for a defensive approach at times this season but their 18 clean sheets is three better than Manchester United or Chelsea and, unlike Arsenal, they have a trophy to show for their efforts.
Winning the Premier League and the FA Cup in your first season as manager should secure your job for a while, but it seems to count for nothing as Carlo Ancelotti's second season at Chelsea ended in empty-handed disappointment. His dismissal as manager immediately after the final game of the season is ruthless even by Abramovich's standards - coming barely a year after guiding the club to their first domestic double.
What does a manager need do to retain his job these days?
The season may have been 'close' and 'unpredicatble' at times but in the end Manchester United made it as Champions for a record breaking 19 times, and by a comfortable 9 point margin, and if you look at the top, middle and bottom of the leagues you don't find many surprises.

| | 20 Octobber 2010 - Weekend 8 Results | | | After a busy week in the red half of Merseyside focus was on Liverpool on Sunday but goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta were enough to see off Roy Hodgson’s underperforming side. Elsewhere wins for Arsenal, Bolton, Spurs, Manchester City and Everton over the weekend all saw them gain crucial points in the Premier League. Chelsea and Manchester United both dropped points at the top and Newcastle and Wigan, Wolves and West Ham both finished level.

| | 25 August 2010 - Weekend 2 Results | | | Six-shooters, Six of the best, The Joy of Six... your could write your own headlins this weekend. A goal bonanza in the Premier League, which saw Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle United all win 6-0, and a total of 35 goals scored in the nine matches played, It’s just as well Blackpool got a head start with their goal difference last week. One for the statto's: prior to this weekend, in the 18 complete seasons of Premier League football, a 6-0 scoreline had been recorded only 17 times. Fulham held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw, and Bolton Wanderers made Avram Grant's start to life at West Ham United even more miserable after Carlton Cole missed from the spot.

| | 16 August 2010 - Weekend 1 Results | | | An opening day hat-trick for Didier Drogba in the late game saw Chelsea start the season where they left off at the end of their last campaign, rattling in the goals and on top of the table. Their 6-0 victory over West Brom knocking Blackpool off the top spot, after their incredible 4-0 win at the DW Stadium in their clash with Wigan Athletic. We waited a couple of weeks last season without a nil-nil draw, Spurs and Manchester City served one up in the season opener this time around, although as nil-nil's go it was a thriller. Perhaps the he best match of the weekend was the game between Liverpool and Arsenal, which ended 1-1 and both teams down to 10 men. Debutants Joe Cole and Laurent Koscielny both saw red while David N’Gog and a Pepe Reina own goal saw both sides leave Anfield with a point. Elsewhere Villa hammered West Ham 3-0, Blackburn stunned Everton 1-0, Birmingham came from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 with Sunderland, Wolves beat Stoke 2-0 and Bolton and Fulham drew 0-0.

| | 05 August 2010 - Premier League Predictions League 2010/2011 | | | It's not long now to the kick off!
No changes to the rules, no squad limits or home-grown player quotas, the same as every year: - Each week predict the results (home win, away win or draw) of the weekend Premiership games. - For each correctly predicted result you will score the odds as displayed at the bookmakers at the kick-off time.
For example: Arsenal v Birmingham
Arsenal win 2/5 Draw 7/2 Birmingham win 7/1 If you correctly predict a Home Win you would score 1.4 points (0.4 + 1 point stake), if you correctly predict an Away Win you would score 8 points (7 + 1 point stake), and if you correctly predict a Draw you would score 4.5 points (3.5 + 1 point stake). A wrong prediction would score 0 points.
NB - points are calculated as if a 1 point bet had been made at the bookmakers and this 'stake' is included in the points.
MiniLeagues You can create a MiniLeague which allows you and your friends to see your results in you own league, as well as in the main league.
